Hi

Thought I'd use this as my own personal blog and to share with others my journey to a fitter/healthier body.

I bought the book on Tuesday, absorbed the whole thing, went out shopping and bought all the good food in. So, now I am on day three(ish).

I've sticked to the routine and am not finding the eating bit difficult, in fact I am eating more than I normally do! But I have had a cracking headache since yesterday and my body aches!

Am I THAT addicted to carbs or has my fitness depleted so that 2 lots of exercise has sent my body into shock?! Shocked Maybe it's both. It does say in the book that headaches are normal so I'll stick with it and see how it goes.

I hope this works cos I am sick of being a blob of blancmange.

Anyway, hello to others on the diet. Very Happy

Ate loads, haven't felt hungry yet.

Ok...I vowed I wasn't going to weigh myself but couldn't resist it the other day. I was pleasantly surprised to see I had lost half a stone! I was very happy.

Anyway, still sticking to it although I have found that all this nut eating is upsetting my stomach. I gave up the nut snacks three days ago and there has been a definite improvement, although the downside is I have started feeling hungry again. The nuts were really keeping the hunger at bay, I can honestly say I never felt hungry once! But now...it's sneaking back.

Anyone got any ideas for a good protein snack instead of nuts. I considered eating some chicken but I don't find that as appealing as a handful of tasty nuts.

You can try boiled eggs. I like that I can take them anywhere. When I get tired of the eggs I switch to chicken or tuna in a pouch-has little liquid.

Ok...update.

Now lost a stone, feel better than I have done for ages!

The weight loss seems to have stopped for a while now though, although this could be my fault as I am struggling to eat all the food I have to, ie I no longer snack on nuts (due to them upsetting my tummy) and haven't found a suitable replacement. Initially I tried whey protein which was super tasty, but it also upset my tum. So occasionally I snack on left over meat and a bit of fruit, but not always.

I am eating a more varied diet than I ever have done, and am experimenting with new recipes. Despite being on the diet for about 8 weeks I haven't gone back to eating dairy or wheat produce, as I don't feel I miss them much. I suffered with IBS previously and my symptoms have improved (almost disappeared actually), and I feel that dairy and wheat just make the symptoms worse.

Oh, and I feel I am getting a better quality of sleep too!

Oh....my husband started the diet too, and he has lost 9ibs in just under 4 weeks!

Hi Newbies,
Good to see some action still happening on this site! I've used this plan off and on for a year or so - it seems I keep coming back to it because it is the only one that I can stick to (at least for awhile). Also, I feel better on it, sooooo wonder to myself why I just don't keep at it. It's probably because I read a magazine article about some new ______ (fill in the blank) and have to try it. Duh! I have to get off of dairy and grains - am always bloated and achy when I eat these.

So, I'm returning to Week 1, Day 1 and looking for support along the way. Regarding snacks other than nuts, I like to alternate with sunflower and pumpkin seeds. as well as HB eggs or jerky for protein. I found that I don't eat enough protein. In the past, I've used a site called FitDay.com to track my foods, excercise and progress. It's online and easy to add my own foods and menus.

Keep me posted on how you are doing!

Hi, and welcome back!

Keep posting and give us updates, I find success stories motivate me a great deal.

I haven't weighed myself for a few weeks (I vowed not to). But health wise I have never felt better. I think I shall be able to maintain this way of eating for ever! I occasionally have the odd treat, usually chocolate or a coconut macaroon but I don't feel like I have to gorge the whole packed now. In fact I had a coconut macaroon yesterday and it was TOO sweet! I never thought I'd say that.

Hi YWE,
I had to lol at your comment about the macaroon being too sweet - I'm even tasting the sweetness in celery now and crave artificial sweets less even since I began the program last year. As a kid, my Mom 'rewarded' or 'soothed' with sweets, so I had that learned behavior to overcome. I learned I was an emotional eater. Now, if happy or sad, I find ways other than food.

I saw a movie recently that I could relate to "The Mirror Has Two Faces" - it was about a woman with low self-esteem who snuck sweet treats, then decided to switch her life around. I love movies like that and found it motivating. I think - "if she can do it, so can I."

When you weigh yourself, also measure. I found that I lost more inches than pounds at first - that was why I was feeling so good, too. The excess bloat and inflamation was pouring out of me. Then, as I exercised and continued the eating plan, the weight began to drop. That's why Christine doesn't put so much emphasis on weight as inches. Besides, you'll be gaining muscle, which weighs more. Once I got my head wrapped around that, it all made sense.

Have a glorious day!
