Dr. Lydon,
As an early Mother's Day present, I bought my mom your book, all her supplements, and took her out for all her healthy food. She's had a weight problem most of my life (5'8 and she says over 300 lbs), and as a result has knee problems and the assortment of ailments that go along with excess weight. I suspect she also suffers from elevated cortisol.
She also, even at 62, still has skin problems, which caught my attention as I was reading your book. She's jumped right into the plan, is very excited, and is trying to elevate her activity level, although with the bad knees, is quite limited.
I hoped that for Mother's Day, I could show her how much I love her by giving her a tool to make sure she's around with me for a long time. We'll see how it goes.
Also, I was wondering if there is a list on the website of foods that were not listed in the book, but that you have deemed to be compliant. In reading posts, I've learned that olives, pine nuts, figs, and all green leafy vegetables are compliant, but I don't have unlimited time to go through every post, so I was wondering if a list has been compiled that we could more easily access.
Thanks!

Hi I!
There is no master list of compliant foods-- though if the book sells well enough to warrant future editions, I will certainly add to the existing lists so that they include all the foods about which members have inquired since I started the on-line support forums.
To quickly check a specific food, use the SEARCH icon (the magnifying glass above) to see if it is mentioned anywhere on the forum. Otherwise, you can usually figure out if a whole food is OK simply by following these rules:
1. All non-grain, non-potato, fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables are allowed-- right from the get-go-- in ulimited quantities with the exception of avacado (1/2 fist per meal) and ackee (1/2 fist per meal). If slow progress is a problem, bananas should be limited and never eaten by themselves.
2. All unprocessed meats, fish, and poultry are allowed in unlimited amounts provided the protein to fat ratio (in grams) is at least 4 to 1.
3. All true nuts (versus peanuts) and seeds are allowed in limited qantities (up to about a cup and a half spread out throughout the day).
I hope this helps a little!
Please have your mom peruse the archived forum "FORTY+ POUNDS TO LOSE" for more ideas on how to adapt the exercise components of the program to her special needs. (There are a couple posts in that forum that pertain specifically to knee problems.)
Have a terrific week!
